Sustainable Solar Success at Alveley Cricket Club
Alveley Cricket Club, nestled in the rural heart of Shropshire, took a major step toward sustainability by partnering with Sol4r Energy Ltd to install a cutting-edge solar energy system. As a busy community sports venue, the club was looking to reduce its reliance on grid electricity, lower energy costs, and shrink its carbon footprint. We delivered a fully integrated solar power solution designed for high performance and long-term impact, and completed the entire installation in just two days.
SYSTEM OVERVIEW
We installed a 12.5kW system using Aiko 465W high-efficiency panels, paired with a SigEnergy 10kW three-phase hybrid inverter and a 16kWh smart battery. The south-facing concrete roof provided the perfect layout for year-round solar gain and maximum efficiency.
PERFORMANCE
The system now generates an estimated 11,272 kWh annually, exceeding the club’s typical usage of 8,000 kWh. That’s more than 100% energy self-sufficiency — with surplus power eligible for export via the Smart Export Guarantee (SEG) through Octopus Energy.
ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT
This installation significantly contributes to the club’s environmental goals:
- Avoids 2.9 tonnes of CO₂ emissions annually
- Offsets the equivalent of 85,000+ car kilometres
- Equals planting 551 trees or skipping 61 long-haul flights
